Hear From Our Clients

Where We Work

Writers and designers often surround themselves with objects that inspire them. But for the OffWhite staff, our surroundings are our inspiration.
It only takes a few minutes inside 521 Fort Street to realize the three-story building’s innate artistic sway. In 1989, OffWhite acquired the historic Douglas/Pattin property located at the entrance to Marietta’s Harmar Village. The Village is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

With assistance from architectural historian Nancy Hoy and restoration architect Franklin D. Lee, OffWhite developed a rehabilitation plan to put the 1895-era building into working order without compromising the original interior or exterior design.
Characterized by its massive sandstone block construction that still bears the stonemasons’ markings, the building features a large front porch just yards from the Muskingum River, a sculptured brick courtyard with wrought iron, ancient ivy and hearty roses, high ceilings with ornate plasterwork and a third-floor ballroom that serves as the master conference room complete with a wood burning fireplace.
The OffWhite restoration effort won the Ohio Historical Society’s 1989 Historic Preservation Merit Award as well as the thanks of neighbors and preservationists who continue to work toward development of the Harmar Village historical district and downtown Marietta.
